That of his heir, Price Baltasar Carlos, was placed between the two over a door, which explains the proportions of the horse, painted to be seen from below. Baltasar Carlos, Philip IV's longed for first son, is shown with a general's staff of command, indicating his readiness to take up the reins of monarchy. His early death was to prevent him from doing so.The 'Museo Nacional del Prado' is considered to have one of the world's finest collections of European art, dating from the 12th century to the early 20th century. The Prado is one of the most visited sites in the world and considered one of the greatest art museums in the world.
