The two main works of da Vinci are displayed alongside; the flying machine and the Vitruvian Man. On the right side of the coin, a reversed written paragraph, made to protect da Vinci's intentions, is displayed. The words "500 ans" mark the anniversary of Leonardo da Vinci's death and the face value of the coin is also shown.

It is estimated that this work of art was started in 1503 by Leonardo da Vinci. It features the portrait of a Lisa Gherardini, who was the wife of Francesco del Giocondo, a Florentine fabric merchant. Lisa Gherardni was also known as Gioconda, which was the feminization of her husband's last name.
