1899 $5.00 Silver Certificate Chief Running Antelope VG (Fr#281)
Currency Highlights: Stored in archival quality currency sleeve. Denomination features both blue seal and blue serial numbers. Obverse: Depicts a portrait of the Sioux Chief Running Antelope with headdress. Reverse: Features an engraved design with "FIVE" in the upper right and left corners and the numerical 5 at the lower left and right corners. There is also a prominent "V" in the center with the obligation. Is Very Good quality and has honest wear. These notes were manufactured up into the 1920s. It is to be noted that the image of Running Antelope caused controversy among Natives, since the headdress the chief wears is from the Pawnee Nation and not the Sioux Nation. The Sioux headdress was switched because it was too tall to fit within the bill dimensions.
